Control Center Quickstart
Getting Started: Why Portal Simplifies Site Security
Traditional access control systems can take days—or even weeks—to install. Portal changes that. Designed for rapid deployment and minimal setup, Loop’s full-height turnstile system arrives pre-assembled and ready to integrate. Whether you’re securing a construction site, warehouse, or industrial facility, the Portal makes it possible to establish reliable perimeter access in a single day without the need for specialized technicians.
This guide walks you through everything you need to know to set up your Portal quickly and correctly, from delivery to your first authorized entry.
Step 1: Site Preparation
Before installation, choose a level surface near your site’s designated entry or exit point. Ensure there’s adequate clearance around the turnstile for smooth pedestrian flow and compliance checks.
- Power Requirements: 110 VAC with a stable connection.
- Grounding: Confirm that grounding points are available to protect the system from surges.
- Networking: If integrating with Loop’s Control Center, confirm cellular or Ethernet connectivity.
Tip: Mark the mounting area with chalk or spray paint to simplify alignment before placing the unit.
Step 2: Positioning and Mounting the Portal
Each Portal arrives pre-assembled and pre-tested. Using a forklift or small crane, position the turnstile so that the entry direction matches your site’s access flow.
- For bolt-down installations, align the baseplate holes and secure with heavy-duty anchor bolts.
- For temporary setups, use the portable base frame option, which allows quick relocation as your site evolves.
Once secured, double-check that the turnstile spins freely and that its cage alignment is even on both sides.
Step 3: Power and Connectivity
Connect the Portal to your power source and verify the LED indicators activate. For network-enabled models, plug into Ethernet or power up the onboard cellular gateway.
- The green light indicates power and system readiness.
- The amber light confirms communication with Loop’s Control Center.
- If neither appears, check power supply polarity and fuse integrity.
Within minutes, the Portal should appear as an active device in your Control Center dashboard.
Step 4: Access Configuration
With the hardware online, it’s time to manage permissions. The Portal supports a range of credential types—RFID badges, PIN codes, biometric readers, and mobile credentials.
Inside the Loop Control Center, navigate to:
- Device Management → Add Device
- Select your Portal’s serial number.
- Assign access rules based on your project roles (e.g., site supervisors, crew, visitors).
Access events will now sync in real time, showing entry logs, shift start times, and compliance checks directly in your dashboard.
Step 5: Calibration and Testing
Most installation hiccups can be resolved in minutes. Here are a few common scenarios:
- Turnstile not spinning: Check for obstruction or incomplete mounting.
- No LED response: Inspect the power connection and verify fuse status.
- System not syncing: Restart the cellular or Ethernet gateway and confirm data plan activation.
Still stuck? The Control Center includes a live diagnostics panel with error codes and instant support ticket creation.
Maintaining Peak Performance
Once your Portal is live, maintenance is minimal. Monthly cleaning of the cage bars, quarterly checks of fasteners, and a quick software update ensure long-term reliability. With its heavy-duty construction and weather-resistant finish, Portal is built to withstand the toughest environments year-round.
Wrapping Up
From delivery to deployment, the Portal makes perimeter security fast, reliable, and scalable. Within hours, your team can transition from unsecured access points to a fully operational, connected system that integrates seamlessly with your workforce management tools.
